About the Sessional Staff Management System

Sessional Staff Management System

The Sessional Staff Management System (SSMS) facilitates the recruitment and appointment of those interested in being involved in the roles that support the work of the VCAA.
Such roles can include - examination/test assessing, examination/test writing, curriculum development, NAPLAN marking, panels in VCAL, VET and School Assessment, Venue Coordination as well as short term/temporary casual work.

New Applicants (does not have a user account)

If you have not previously applied for a role at the VCAA you will need to click on the "New Applicants" link to lodge an application for a position. The application process varies depending on the position you are applying for but for all applications you will be asked for your personal details (name, address, phone number etc), referee details and tertiary qualifications. Once your application has been processed you will be issued with a Username and Password. This will allow you to login to your user account on the SSMS website.

Registered to use SSMS (has a user account)

Once logged in to your SSMS user account you are able to apply for jobs, maintain your personal details, referee details and tertiary qualifications and view information regarding your application(s). When you apply for jobs as a registered applicant you will not have to re-enter your personal details and many of the fields within the application will be populated with information you have entered in previous applications.

General

The advertising of positions on SSMS is date driven and the system is configured to only advertise currently available positions. Make sure you get your applications in before the closing date. In nearly all cases late applications will not be taken.

Bulletin Board

The SSMS Bulletin Board is used to keep you updated on roles and tilmelines.

Future plans

Development to the SSMS website will deliver new functionality such as the ability to track the progress of your application, maintain more information related to you as a user profile, payment information and other customised pages containing information and requirements relative to the roles.

Important note

SSMS does not deal with full time, permanent positions with the VCAA, nor does it handle specific roles such as Examination Supervision in schools.
